Thistle Down

Grandma

I went to visit Grandma,
A long, long time ago.
When I was just a little tad,
And growth for me was slow.

The old out-house was far behind,
Sometimes I had to run.
Or wait my turn by the briar patch,
In the coming of the sun.

Grandma made our biscuits big,
And with butter they were lush.
We never knew what cereal was,
To us...it was only mush.

At night we slept in the feather bed,
That was so fluff and high.
And after tucking myself and settling in,
I heaved a great, big sigh.

These are sweet memories,
That I grew to know.
When we visited with Grandma,
A long, long time ago.
