Kookaburras
One of my favourite birds and these two are the Laughing Kookaburras as distinct from the Blue-winged Kookaburra and are native to Northern Australia and Papua New Guinea. They make a wonderful laughing noise especially when there are a few of them together.
We had gone for drive about half an hour out of town so I could blip some Bush Orchids I had discovered many years ago. They were growing wild in a lovely little patch of bushland not far from the river and were surrounded by lots of native ferns and other plants. Sadly they were no longer there and nor were the ferns. I was quite disappointed - is it climate changes or have they been discovered and harvested?? Who knows!
Any way, spotting these gorgeous Kookaburras made my day. I think the one on the left must be a juvenile - he was smaller, very fluffy and rather cute.
PS I had just finished blipping my kookaburras when I noticed a beautiful red sunset from the balcony upstairs.View from the balcony

PPS I have just discovered that the Bush Orchids are disappearing everywhere and I will add a link if anyone is interested.
