A WOW day
Overnight I had been on Aurora watch. At one point I'd seen a green tinge to the sky, so shot some long exposure pics - then you could just about see some green light. Am hoping I get to see it much better than this during my trip!
We then took a long road trip over to Jokulsarlon, a glacial lagoon by Icelands largest glacier, Vatnajokull. It was incredible! We had an amphibious boat trip out onto the lagoon as well, plus walked down onto the black beach to see the washed up Icebergs there.
The other pictures were taken from the car during our drive. At one point it actually looks like the road continues up onto the glacier! And the cliff picture is from the South East area of Iceland, before the lagoon.
We did pass the area of the Jokulhlaup, which is where the volcanic activity under the big glacier caused lots of ice to melt, and flood down the rivers. It was impressive with the volume and speed of the water. Also the smell was bad, because Hydrogen sulphide and sulphur dioxide had also been released.
