Fireworks

The third of October was their wedding anniversary and this particular third of October was their twenty-fourth wedding anniversary. Their son suggested that, the following year, they should have fireworks but they had fireworks of a different kind that afternoon and, after a chain reaction of small explosions and flashes of clarity and things which promised much but then fizzled out, their display was over.
