A Rare Sighting

Of HMS Protector the Royal Navy's Antarctic Patrol Vessel. Painted red and known affectionately in the Navy as the "Red Plum".
Based in Portsmouth she sails in the autumn for the South Atlantic and the Antarctic spending the summer down there before returning for summer here.
Clare and I saw her alongside in Falmouth today as we had lunch together in the sunshine on Customs House Quay.
With Clare working, Sam studying and Josh away on Army Cadet Camp it was a quiet night with a book for me.
