Vulcan To The Sky

The day started with frantic refreshing and then disappointment, when we didn't manage to secure any tickets for next year's Glastonbury. Ah well - there's one more round of ticket sales in April, and if unlucky then, Chris gets to go to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this time!

While Chris headed off into London to take part in a project (more on that at a later date), I (Annie) headed over to meet MatthewHicks and go to the National Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon to see the final airshow flight of Vulcan XH588 - the only remaining flying Vulcan aircraft. A beautiful sunny day, we sat out on the grassy mound outside the museum and waited for it. A special moment when it first came into view over the horizon.

It circled a good few times in front of us, and it was great to hear its roar as it swooped and climbed. I found it tricky to photograph, as the sky was so bright! After too short a time, it headed off to the left, to its final call at its last airshow. Goodbye, Vulcan.

Lovely to spend an afternoon with Matthew and meet his lovely family. A good day. :)
