Mackintosh Festival : Brian Park at The Glad Cafe

A month of events in and around Glasgow, celebrating the life and work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. 

We went along to The Glad Cafe in Shawlands,  to hear Brian Park talk about the Restoration of the Glasgow School of Art, following the serious fire in May 2014.  The Page and Park team won the contract to restore the building, and it was very interesting to hear about what has been saved, the challenges they face, and the opportunities which lie ahead.  It could be 2018 before students return to The Mack to study.  

So many distressing images, particularly of the library area.  This one is of the Professors' studios, now a vast open space with no roof.  

I feel the place is in safe hands.  The Library and Hen Run hold special memories for me, and I hope one day to see them again.
