The Handover

The Olympic torch passed by the end of our road today and along with hundreds of other local people we turned out to catch a bit of the excitement. It was wonderful and if the Olympics is a Celebration of Friendship, Unity and Peace, then a bit of its magic hit Blackburn today. Somewhere in the midst of all those people you will see the flame being handed from one torchbearer to another.
We followed the procession down to the town centre where many more people were gathered.
I got lots of reasonable photos of the torchbearers and torch, but I think this one sums up my experience of the day and what made it so special.
And it didn't rain!
