90 years ago my mother was furious

that she had to pose barefoot with her younger siblings.  The five sisters were all named after flowers, played hockey for the West of England and tennis at Wimbledon in either the senior or junior events.  The second smallest, Viola, was reputed to have the hardest serve of all the women until Billy Jean King arrived on the scene.
