Brief Encounter at Carnforth

A strange chain of events led us to Carnforth today. It was perhaps the wettest day ever, just like on the black and white movies, where the rain beats down. We could not keep dry not matter how hard we tried. It was great fun.

This shot is the view that Laura (played by Celia Johnson) would have seen as she came up the ramp in the 1945 film 'Brief Encounter'. I shot it in black and white for the old movie effect.

The exhibition of local, railway and Brief Encounter information was very interesting. We had tea and cake in the Brief Encounter buffet.

This was the day that we missed the Olympic torch twice - it came to Milnthorpe, two villages away from Arnside, and it also visited Carnforth a little while before we did! Ah well.
