Grapes or raisins?
After yesterday's visit to Silves - and in the bargain getting caught up in people going to vote for the Portuguese general election - we had a quieter day by the pool and in the villa. The weather was grey but mild and early afternoon, as it began to brighten up, I headed to the local shops.
I passed by various ramshackle vineyards. Not laid out in pristine rows as we say in the Dordogne in June. But nonetheless very productive.
I was not sure whether this late harvest jaws intended for a particular purpose- eg a sweet late harvest red wine. Apparently to make raisins the grapes are picked then dried out - though some of these look well on their way to being raisins.
A lovely relaxing day. A barbecue in the evening. Then a late night swim under the stars - including a couple of shooting stars.
Holidays are good!
