Ballagh Castle

This is all that remains of the castle belonging to Connor O 'Dwyer. Sometime after 1649 it was taken by Oliver Cromwell's New Model Army. The remains stand in the front field of the farm where my father grew up. The farm is now run by my cousin Leslie. When I was a little girl I was fascinated by the idea of having such an historic building in my family's farm.

Another busy day here...our last in County Tipperary. Off to the West coast tomorrow to County Mayo, where my mother was brought up.

PS Excuse poor light again. Again I have much better ones on my real camera and I will replace when I get home.
