The second half of life..

Cap #3

Up early-ish to do a few last minute and final preps before the people who have rented my house for a few days arrived.  It was a weird feeling being in my own house but hardly recognising it.  Over the past few days I've been slowly de-cluttering and de-personalising it so that the short-term tennants can enjoy the space.  It's a long, long time since my house and garden was this clean, neat and tidy.......no wonder I hardly recognised it!

Tennants arrived a little after 10.00 then I took myself off to Rabbit Island where the plan was to do a good few hours of school work before heading back to town to watch the hockey internationals this evening.  So much for the plan.  Beautiful, warm day, beachside, time to relax, drink coffee........and sleep!  The work never saw the light of day.  There's always tomorrow I guess.

So back to the hockey :)  An extra special match as Kelsey - daughter of L & M - has been called up from the New Zealand Development squad to play for the Black Sticks in their series against Argentina.  She played a couple of games in Blenheim over the weekend, so her 'real' international debut was over there, but today was a kind of home-turf debut.....so many friends and family there to see the team and, of course, to support Kelsey.

And she did soooooo well - really seemed (to my not-very-hockey-minded eye) to be finding more confidence and more space.  I guess her nerves are settling and she's more able to cencentrate on doing what she does so well.  And to add to the immense sense of pride, Kelsey is playing alongside another former student and now Black Sticks captain, Anita Punt.  What a fantastic match to have seen.......and to top it off, they won 4-1. Great match all round :)

Bed tonight is at the McKee domain.  Over to the idyllic Golden Bay tomorrow for a few days of more sunshine and more rest - oh, and a bit of marking too.
