Vestry

The Kirk of Calder's vestry has a 16th century barrel roof and on the left a arch where a tomb would have been - but was never used. Under the vestry is the crypt where the Lords Torphichen lie buried in with their families in the walls of the church.
On the left of the doorway is a carved stone set in the wall which came from the original 11th century church built on this site. A second one is deposited in the Museum of Antiquities in Edinburgh.
Here the Minister, Rev. John M. Povey, keeps his robes and can have private conversations with who ever needs his help. He has been our Minister for 30 years.
