the age of steam

Rain today - so I went to the museum. In the small exhibition space there is new exhibition of modern silverware. Some very nice pieces but mostly too much bling for my likings. Wandered over to the industry gallery. One of the steam engines was in operation and I had a very nice chat with the guy who looks after it. The steam engine is powered by compressed air (as opposed to steam), which means it works exactly like it would have then. I just love looking at all the moving parts. I think it's one of my most favourite galleries. Looking forward to the new galleries opening next summer.
