Turlake Times

Tourism begins at home

For the second time this month I've spent a day being a tourist in my home town. It's an odd experience, and I've been amazed to discover so much of interest on my doorstep, some of which I'd taken for granted and some of which I didn't even know about.

A friend and I set off to see the Dragon Boat Racing but it turned out that was cancelled as the water in the Exe is too high after all the rain we've had.

I wondered whether to upload a picture of Stepcote Hill, or the "House That Moved" or the Roman wall or any other of the fascinating buildings and architectural details, or perhaps the sign that announces that our museum won the Museum of the Year Award ... but this little shot of some daisies growing in a bridge over the canal appealed to me the most.
