Look into my Eyes!
Look and you will see…. this is a photo of a building in Swanston Street, Melbourne, it wasn’t until I saw it in my camera viewfinder, that I realised it was a face!. I couldn’t quite get the whole face, but managed to get the eyes, nose and mouth which are quite visible.
If you can’t see a face straight away, just squint your eyes a little! It will come into view.
A little googling later, explained its presence!.....evidently it’s a portrait of indigenous leader William Barak.
William was an elder of Melbourne’s Wurundjeri tribe, an artist and social justice leader, credited with building a bridge between black and white culture. He died in 1902… His face was sculpted in light and shade using the building’s white concrete balconies.
What a find!
