Ruddy Turnstone(Arenaria interpres)
The Ruddy Turnstone is a winter visitor to Oman and a passage migrant. It gets its name from its habit of routing around on low tide on sandy and pebbly beaches, turning over small stones to see if there is anything to eat underneath them. This bird photographed on a beach in Azaibah(with my Nikon/Sigma)is in his or her beautiful summer plumage, with its gorgeous ginger & brown spots, in winter plumage these brighter feathers are replaced with more camouflaged feathers.
