After walking through orchards of apples with many lying on the ground, friend P and I were worried no-one was going to pick them. Relieved to see boxes of them stacked up at the side of a field, all labelled with variety and farm, ready to go. P had got the train out from London for an afternoon in the country. We were very lucky to have outstanding weather and enjoyed an amble through the Garden of England after lunch in a pub.
