A visit to Kingsbarns distillery
Today I visited Kingsbarns distillery in Fife. The journey there took me just over two hours but it was really worth it.
Kingsbarns is a fairly new distillery. My friend Doug, a whisky enthusiast and local golf caddie once had a dream, and it was to open a distillery in Kingsbarns. His dream finally came true thanks to his hard work, help from the Government and the support of the Wemyss family, a family with a longstanding passion for whisky. The building that holds the distillery and visitor centre was formerly a historical and semi-derelict farm steading. The first time I visited it, it was still a building site, so it was great to see it finished this time. They filled their first cask in March this year, so they still have a while to wait before they release their first single malt. I tasted the new make spirit and it's really good, so I'm pretty sure the final product will be great. If you are in the area, I do really recommend a visit. Lovely place and lovely people! :)
After the tour I was left to wander around the place to take photos and this is one of them. I'm glad it was not raining!
Working this weekend :(
Thanks very much for all your lovely comments, stars and hearts. I hope you all had a good day and enjoy your weekend! :)
