The West Door, Lincoln Cathedral
Today was a good day. Not without emotion however. Wife and I travelled to Lincoln Cathedral for the CLIMB Service of Celebration.
I have been a CLIMB Trustee for many years. As a family had much support from the then RTMDC when 3 of our children died as babies and the input that I can now make is a way of putting back what we took out years ago.
The central part of the service is the dedication of the latest Book of Remembrance (the 8th) and the reading of each child's name (75) inscribed in the book. It was my privilege, together with one other Trustee, to read out each name. The choir hummed during the reading of names and sang a Taize Chant after each 10 names. The families of many of the children named attended the service.
CLIMB - Children Living with Inherited Metabolic Diseases was founded in 1981 as The Research Trust for Metabolic Diseases in Children. We are a national organisation working on behalf of children, young people, adults and families affected by metabolic disease. The National Information Centre for Metabolic Diseases is part of the Climb Group. http://www.climb.org.uk/
