Camp III

Lightning Ridge, NSW, at 39 degrees.  So much to see here in this town famous for opal mining.  The original mine is close to this view of the huge horizon and sunset.  With many worked out shafts covered with rudimentary mesh and wire, this is a place to be extremely careful..  But extraordinary to imagine the lives of the people who have worked and still work here, the only place where black opal is found in the world.
