No one sitting and watching
Last night we heard the neighbour enjoying watching New Zealand play Ireland at rugby union in Hamilton. He has Sky so can watch live. His enthusiasm and pleasure suggested a good game from New Zealand's perspective. Being aware that I can get updates given by the BBC for football, I thought they may do the same for rugby and fired up the iPad. There it was; 23 minutes gone and 26 - 0.
The sounds of gusto and delight continued, and I checked on the BBC "live" feed occasionally. Remembered that free to air TV often has a delayed telecast, and found that it was about to start. Daughter J said she would like to watch with her father, so we enjoyed a one and a half hour delayed telecast of a game in which Ireland dominated possession and field position, and played well enough to beat most teams. But this night, the All Blacks were on fire. 60 - 0 was not really a fair indication of how well Ireland played. They played at pace and with invention. But I had to agree with the BBC writer who compared Ireland against New Zealand as Justin Beiber against Metallica.
So, late to bed and late to rise. Chose against a morning run, and ended up going in the hour before sunset. Over at Cox's Bay I had the pleasure of this scene. Low tide, Cox's Creek meandering through the mudflats to the harbour waters, and the low and golden sun shining into the empty seat.
At least I was running past and looking.
ADDITIONAL: It looks pretty good in large
