Beirut nightlife

Beirut is a city of contrasts. This is in the middle of the downtown area. Next to the most expensive shops in the city and close to the parliament is this expanse of what looks like wasteland. It's where any protests take place. I took the photo from a rooftop bar in one of the luxury hotels. The crowd was young and extremely trendy - I felt old and definitely not trendy!
