Man Booker Night

I know we are two days earlier but I am in London on Tuesday when the announcement is made so we had to meet up today. We have done this for about six years trying to read the short list and meeting and picking our favourite. Always accompanied with fine food and wine. So we are gathered, gin and tonic in hand, just three of us tonight. I am off to the kitchen to create cod and crab fish cakes (after a Mary Berry recipe) and then roasted Guinea fowl served on parmentier potatoes with bacon lardons, vegetables and a creamy mustard jus (well that's what the book says). Then cheese and biscuits, debate, disagreement and argument before a glass or two of port will end the evening with what we think is the best.

Usually when the announcement is made we realise we have got it wrong again.

Must get cooking now!
