Almost a Super Saturday but not quite
It was all setup for a Super Saturday with one big game after another, Wales v Australia in the Rugby World Cup, Wigan v Leeds in the Rugby League Grand Final and then Wales v Bosnia in the European Football Championships.
The Wales v Australia game was just fantastic, two big name teams going to toe to toe and no quarter given. The two teams traded penalties and the Aussies just nipped into the lead at half time by 9-6. In the second half Wales had a 15-20 minute period where they battered the Aussie line, and at one point Australia were down to 13 men with 2 in the sin bin. Their defence was immense though and they held out, and then went down the other end of the pitch and scored a penalty to effectively end the game at 15-6. So Wales now take on South Africa in the quarter finals, it ain’t going to be easy but if we can play with the intensity that we showed in this match, who knows?
I missed the Wigan v Leeds match as the Jolly Boys Outing decamped to a Chinese restaurant. Gutting to lose that one, when I felt confident that we were going to win.
Wales lost in the football as well, but qualified for the Championships after Israel were beaten.
The Jolly Boys Outing was good though, and to catch up with some old friends was good. The conversation flows like we’re still working together on a day to day basis.
So it was almost a Super Saturday but not quite, I got so annoyed I kicked this ball at Cardiff Castle, I may have done some damage. Lol!
