Centenary Remembrance
A British war heroine who worked for some time in Greater Manchester, will be commemorated today in a wreath-laying ceremony in Salford.
Nurse Edith Cavell was shot at dawn on October 12, 1915 by a German firing squad for helping smuggle British troops out of occupied Belgium during World War One.
Picture shows her prayer book, a photo of which is on display at Liverpool Museum's "Poppies, Women and War" exhibition.
