Santa Aguenda's Castle, Menorca

One of the highest points on this little island and the location for defensive buildings since pre history, the romans the moors and muslims. It was the scene of a famous battle and siege in 1287 when the Christians overran the then complex muslim castle resulting in a " disappearance"  of men, women and children. Sounds like a massacre to me. The muslims in an attempt to show they could withstand a long siege threw loaves at the invaders!!!
More recently the complex became a farm and has become the subject of a renovation by, I think, the Island's Council. There is a steep climb to this complex and most impressive on the route of the original roman road. Well, I'm impressed!
