Custom

In Japan, as in many Asian cultures, it is customary to remove your shoes when you enter people's homes.

Apartments and houses all have  an entrance area, called a genkan, where you leave your shoes, neatly facing the door and use indoor slippers provided by the host.

This is the first time I've seen them left outside... Perhaps they were having a party?

Dog watch day 7 and the woofer seems to have recovered some of his va va voom!  He is unimpressed by the 'no playing' rule! We even had a few woofs of disgust when I refused to retrieve his toys from their hiding place :)
