After I had stood for a minute or so, right on the edge of lock 47, framing this shot, a chap passed me and asked, with a quizzical expression: "so, have you taken any decent photos then?" I detected a subtle emphasis on the word "decent."

There were some more colourful alternatives, I have to confess.
