Remembering Edith Cavell
Who was shot at dawn,100 years ago today, because she would not distinguish between friend or foe. If they were wounded she would nurse them regardless of nationality. This is the back view with the inscription on it.
Please see extra photo for the front view with the coat of arms of Littlehampton. My Grandmother owned this, it was passed down to my Mum and now me. They both lived in South London and on a day trip to the sea-side would have bought this as a souvenir and now I am living very close to Littlehampton. Strange how things turn around.
On one of the sides is the word 'Humanity' and on the opposite side it says 'Sacrifice'.
That says it all.
