Joan Didion

Aunt Susan and I went to Portsmouth this evening to see Joan Didion interviewed. She's a crazy intelligent woman who in the last 9 years lost both her writer husband and her thirty-something daughter. She is about twelve pounds and such a New Yorker in spirit. She was witty and clever and extremely frail.
After reading so many of her written words it was curious and wonderful to hear her speak.
