Ever on.

Mixed day.

Very saddened to hear of the death of Carey Lander last night and I'm not too big to admit that the playing of this  during RadMac  this afternoon had me shedding a tear or (twenty)two. I've donated to Carey's JustGiving page and I'm glad to see it's gone way, way past the target.

In the spirit of mindfulness I took an hour to walk along the banks of the Lugg and the Wye around Luggsmouth and Carrots as the day closed. Being alone in these surroundings is an intensely personal thing and, despite the unquestionable beauty of all on show, it gives me a huge dose of melancholia. I used to be at a loss as to why this was but Robert Macfarlane, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Walt Whitman are answering some of those questions. Notwithstanding that, I came away reflective and calm.

That's more than I can say for the white-feathered interlopers in this scene. About three minutes after this pic there transpired an almighty Swan-pagga. I do love the way a cob with murderous intention creates audible bow-waves when giving it the big I-am. Slightly less nice for the two first-year juveniles on the end of his rage. They flew off. He was placated.

Ever on.
