At The Rink
We went to a local skate rink this afternoon. Holly loves skating and Emma is getting into it too.
I tried to get some decent shots of them skating but it was next to impossible due to the low light and movement. However, I did manage to get this interesting effect, mostly by accident, but it is a good example of "freezing" action using a flash. In this case I did a panning shot at 1/10". There is no PS trickery here, just the effect of using flash. The flash was bounced off the ceiling, that was thankfully fairly low and bright. I also used a green gel on the flash to match the ambient florescent lighting.
Here is the unprocessed shot.
