Stairway to Heaven

At the bottom of the village stands the church of Panagia Eleftherotria, which is the name given to Jesus' mum before she met Joseph or rode to Bethlehem on a donkey. At the centre of the village is the church of Koimisi tis Theotokou, which is the Assumption into Heaven of the same woman, some time after the notorious execution of her son. It seems that the middle portion of her life, for which she is best known, is hardly acknowledged in the village. This road/staircase is at about the middle portion of the route between the two churches.
