The moors above Blanchland
It's Wednesday and on Wednesdays the Haltwhistle Friends go out walking. We had a big group out from Blanchland on the long walk. The sun burnt off the mist and we had lovely long views over open moorland.
The autumn colours are just kicking in and even the bracken looks lovely.
We had to deploy our incident management today when Pat took ill. He felt faint and we had to lie him down for a while. The land was dry, but I commandeered sit mats from several people to make a warm surface underneath him. We covered him in Paramo coats and he soon improved. Two of the group went downhill at great speed to bring a four wheel drive up to meet us and we walked downhill. He seems fine now.
It was a more eventful walk than we expected! Well done to Geoff for great leading on open moorland with no landmarks.
