Greyfriars
Another fun packed day in Scotland's capital. Having caught the bus to the city centre we walked over to the museum by the university. Our main aim was to reach the seventh floor roof terrace that Roz had recommended for the view. The layout of the museum made it a bit convoluted to find the right lift, but we got there eventually and the views were wonderful. You need a full day to do justice to the museum exhibits, so we skimmed the industry and natural history and found a Nero across the road.
From there we went to Greyfriars Kirk to visit Bobby's grave. Greyfriars Bobby, as you may already know, was the dog who lived for fouteen years in the cemetery by the grave of his master and is the pride of Edinburgh. We found the grave, and saw the statue outside the gate and had an explore of the cemetery. I was quite disappointed with the headstone which was comparably new, I expected something more in setting with the age of burial.
After we walked to Henderson's for soup and roll, then onto Charlotte Square where we visited the Scottish National Trust Georgian House property in New Town; we then caught the bus to Ocean Terminal and walked to Leith and checked out the pub/eateries. We decided on Granary where we had a nice meal washed down with a pint of Deuchars.
