Paradise Shelduck

These native ducks are beautiful and noisy. The female is more brightly coloured than the male.  Paradise shelducks first breed in their second or third year and pairs stay together for life and return to the same nesting area year after year. The ducklings are the cutest- black and white striped. Found this lovely lady this morning.
