Who's Afraid of the ........
Whilst weeding under the fig tree I must have disturbed a spiders nest as two little mites started scurrying around with their egg sacs. Ran to get my camera and just managed to photograph this one climbing up the retaining wall.
I think it’s a wolf spider, as they carry their egg sac in this manner, the sac is a white silken sphere and is attached to the end of its abdomen.
It was only small, but evidently their venomous bite can cause swelling and mild pain, although I didn’t know that until after I’d photographed it at close range!
