Snowfall in the alps

We drove home yesterday through a sunny Valle d'Aosta to torrential rain, sleet and snow: rain by Lake Como, sleet on the Maloja pass and snow on the roads by the lakes of the Upper Engadine valley. It was no surprise that we woke to snow-laden trees and mountain tops plastered white.
