We went for one of our jaunts to Snowdonia today to Beddgelert which means Gelerts Grave, as the story goes....
In the 13th century Prince Llewellyn came back from a hunting trip to be greeted by his faithful hound Gelert who was covered in blood, his infant sons cradle was overturned & thinking that the dog had killed his son he slew him, only to hear the baby crying & find the body of a wolf that Gelert had killed.
We strolled along the very fast flowing Glaslyn river and saw the Welsh Highland steam train go puffing by then across the fields to see the grave.
This little stone shelter was nearby & had a bronze statue of a sheep peering out.
