Leak and Thorp

'Leak and Thorp', a department store of late in Coney street in York. Built in 1869 after a coaching inn called 'The George' was pulled down to make way for it. The department store was destroyed by fire in 1933 but rebuilt by the following year. Today, you will find 'Next'.
This photograph was taken in 'Kirkgate', the Victorian street re-constructed in the Castle Museum in York, where 'Leak and Thorp' is remembered.
