The Old Forge, Branscombe, Devon.

We wound our way home through the tiny, back roads of Devon enjoying wonderful scenery.

Suddenly we came across the village of Branscombe.

This is a view of the Old Forge, a National Trust Property.

The anvil in the foreground was made in 1922 and the forge was erected in 1580.

It is the only remaining thatched forge remaining in the country and you can see it in the Extra photo.

It is not surprising that there are no more thatched
blacksmith' s forges left in the country!

The Master Blacksmith can be seen reading quietly. Well he was until I disturbed him.

He is reading The Last of the Mohicans by Fenimore Cooper.
