Geothermal
We spent the day looking at geothermal attractions in Rotorua.
The morning was spent in Whakarewarewa, a living Maori village where we were given a guided tour of the village and told about the Maori way of life. This included how they lived in harmony with the various hot springs and vents available to them. We were also treated to a cultural show including singing, dancing and a haka.
We had lunch here, which consisted of Hangi pie and sweetcorn, both cooked in steam from a hot thermal vent.
We then drove a little south of Rotorua and visited Waimangu Volcanic Valley, where we walked down from the top into the valley, seeing various hot springs, small geysers and even an entire hot lake. The main picture here shows the steam floating on top of the lake.
(I've also added some extras from yesterday)
