The Ice Tower, Dunraven Castle.
My beloved and I went to the village of Southerndown this afternoon to have a look at what is left of Dunraven Castle. Basically, all that remains is a lovely walled garden and the ice tower in which winter ice was stored under the tower for use throughout the summer months. The actual castle which was in fact a very large mansion house was originally built in 1803 and sadly demolished in 1963. The views across the Bristol Channel from this place are just amazing. My extra shot is taken from the Ice Tower looking out across a slightly misty Ogmore Beach and bay towards the town of Porthcawl!
