Mainsgill Farm Shop

The journey up the A1 from Peterborough was fine this morning until we reached Scotch Corner when the A1 clogged up. We left to join the A66 for the 60 odd mile section to Keswick which should have taken about an hour and a half but in the end took us over two hours owing to sheer volume of traffic and a combination of single and dual carraigeways.

But all of that was ahead of us as we stopped at this massive farm shop for lunch and a browse around the emporium. Lunch was very good as were all the produce on sale, mostly from their own farm.

In the end, the journey was worth it when we arrived at Willow Bank cottage in Thurshwood just to the north of Keswick. A beautiful, newly refurbished property, luxurious with stupendous views over the valley and to the mountains away to the west.

Looking forward to a good week here
