What's wrong with a beach holiday?

First day in the Swiss Alps and it was wet, wet, wet. Plus colder than what we had left behind and that was a record cold and wet summer. Still we thought it was good to get out for a walk. And for complicated reasons...we heeded our friends advice and headed up the Lauterbrunnen Valley to catch the cable car high up to Murren...to views of absolutely nothing!

Walking for fours hours in the fog and rain with four moaning teenagers was a little less fun than it sounds. With us being constantly question on why we couldn't be a normal family and do beach holidays in the sun and swim all day...just why not? I had to say I was mostly with them at this point!

Sienna meanwhile with all the positiveness of an eight year old skipped her way along the trail and asked endlessly for questions of naughty things that we father and I got up to when we were children - apparently plenty since we kept her occupied for a long time.

Still it was nice (retrospectively) to get out and get some time in the mountains.
