The North Face of the Eiger

One of the things that we really wanted to do when in Switzerland was walk under the North Face of the Eiger.

My husband is a director of The Kendal Mountain Festival and we are all fascinated with climbing, mountaineering and adventuring. With its history this particular mountain is one that we all wanted to see - plus the friends who we had come to stay with in Switzerland, the husband is one of Switzerland's top mountaineers and has shared many a story of his time on the wall. It did not disappoint!

All in all a fantastic 16km walk that even the eight year old enjoyed - far too much downhill (we suffered the next day - although the kids seemed to not notice!) but spectacular views and a real feeling of being in the Alps.
