Bathing Blackbirds
It's no wonder there's a thin layer of oil on the water surface of our garden pond! These are two of five blackbirds who stopped by for a paddle, a drink, a collection of insects or, in one case, a long, thorough, very splashy bath. I love watching birds bathing. They're so funny. They'll stop and look round, looking a bit bedraggled, and then carry on with more splashing. So sweet! Every day at least one bird comes to bathe. The bluetits are just as funny, but their splashes take up less space, of course. I think the pond attracts bird life even more than feeders.
