Thoughts Of Retirement?

Hi Blipfriends!
Dolly reporting again today!

Well, my mum is WAY behind on her blips so we are playing catch-up!  She is in DC and I think is taking care of a few from there, and I am also here helping her out!  What would she do without me?  I am posting this almost a week late, but this was a very fun outing day on October 8th.

Today Mum had a meeting to go to, and much to my surprise she told me I could come along!!  My mum is a local officer for the 'Association of Flight Attendants', and is also an 'associate member' of a linked group called the 'Retired Association of Flight Attendants'.  She said today she was going to THEIR meeting and since she would mostly be a participant, then I could go!  Woo Hoo!  "Does that mean you are going to retire soon, Mum?".  She answered:  "No…that would be complicated."  Hmm.  I really wish she would!

So…off we went to Ealing and to a pub where the meeting was held.  I LOVE going to pubs.  Once I ran away and went to the pub, but that is another story for another day!  We had nice sandwiches and Mum had some coffee and I mostly just snoozed on her lap.  People seemed to be happy that I was there, and Mum was able to see some former colleagues whom she had not seen in a long time and that made her happy.

So….when the meeting was over, Mum said we were going to stop at one of our favourite woods on the way home.  It was a beautiful sunny autumn day.  The woods are called Burnham Beeches and we try to go there a few times this time of year.  I LOVE the woods!  These ones are huge and so we never seem to walk the same route a second time.  We found some new paths.  Mum also loves the woods and likes to be in the fresh air, as I do, so we were both very happy!

At the end of our walk we stopped in the cafe right there in the trees and Mum had a couple mugs of tea and a piece of cake.  She said it was called 'Millionaires Shortbread'.  I was eyeing it up, wondering if I was going to get a piece.  She gave me a very small piece that had no chocolate on it, and I also got a dog-biscuit which the cafe provides!  LOVE this place!

What a great day!  Wish I could ALWAYS go places with my Mum!  (And she says she wishes she could always take me!).  "Don't you think it would be easier if you were retired, Mum?"
"Yes, you're probably right, it would."

Well, what better argument than that??
